Family assembly organized by Department of Mass Communication held in Barguna

A family assembly was organized in Barguna under the GPMS action plan of the Department of Mass Communication on Tuesday afternoon.
The event was arranged by the Barguna District Information Office at the Lakurtala Sonar Bangla Secondary School Cyclone Shelter. S. M. Abdur Rahman, Director General of the Department of Mass Communication, addressed the gathering as the chief guest via video conference.
The assembly was presided over by District Information Officer Selim Mahmud. Islamic Foundation Barguna Deputy Director Md. Shafiqul Islam and Department of Women Affairs Deputy Director Roop Kumar Pal attended the event as special guests.
The program focused on raising public awareness on various social and community matters, including the importance of Family Cards and Farmer Cards, tree plantation drives, the prevention of child marriage, dowry, and substance abuse, combating dengue and measles, and countering rumors and disinformation. In his address, the chief guest called upon all stakeholders to work in a coordinated manner to disseminate accurate information regarding government public welfare initiatives to the grassroots level.
Performers from the Department of Mass Communication presented thematic songs during the event. Local public representatives, government officials, teachers, students, media professionals, female representatives, and local dignitaries attended the assembly managed by the Barguna District Information Office.
