Journalist,  family member beaten up in Adamdighi

Four people, including three women, have been accused of beating a man named Farhad Ali and causing bloody head injuries over the construction of a barbed wire fence in his house's courtyard in Bihi village of Chapapur union in Adamdighi upazila of Bogura district.
 
Firoz Hossain, Adamdighi Upazila correspondent of the Daily Manabzamin and joint general secretary of the Santahar City Press Club, was injured when his father was hit with a stick while trying to save him.
 
On Saturday (September 19) morning, injured journalist Firoz Hossain filed a written complaint with the police station. Earlier, the incident took place in the Bihigram Kumar Para area of the upazila around 5:30 pm on Friday.
 
The complaint states that at the time of the incident, work was underway to install a barbed wire fence in the courtyard of their house. At that time, on the orders of their neighbor Abdur Rahman, Sathi, Asma and Rujina started abusing their father in foul language. When their father forbade them from abusing them, the three women attacked their father and beat him up indiscriminately. This left his father with a bloody wound on his head. Hearing his father's screams, his son Firoz Hossain came forward to protect him and was also hit with a bamboo stick. This left his head with a bloody wound.
 
Later, when locals reached the spot, the accused left the spot after threatening journalist Firoz and his father and family members with various forms of intimidation and death threats. Firoz Hossain, Joint General Secretary of Santahar City Press Club, filed a written complaint with the police station in the name of four people. They are: Sathi Begum (30) of Bihigram Kumar Para in Chapapur UP of Adamdighi Upazila, Asma Begum (47) of Bihigram Ustad Para, Rujina Akhter (38) of Bohar village in Rani Nagar Upazila of Naogaon district, and Abdur Rahman (60) of Bihigram Kumar Para.
 
Confirming the truth of the incident, Adamdighi Police Station OC Kamruzzaman Mia said, "We have received a written complaint. Legal action will be taken after investigation."
