Baraigram (Natore) Correspondent

A discussion meeting was held in Baraigram Upazila to facilitate the reconstitution of sexual harassment prevention committees in secondary-level educational institutions and to ensure their effective functioning.

The meeting took place on Thursday at the Upazila Parishad Auditorium. It was organized by the Baraigram Upazila Secondary Education Office with support from Room to Read Bangladesh, Natore.

The meeting was chaired by UNO Laila Jannatul Ferdous and moderated by Md. Muniruzzaman, Supervisor of the Upazila Secondary Education Office.

The chief guest was Professor Dr. Mir Zahida Nazneen, Director (Planning and Development) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE). The special guests included Md. Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Director of DSHE, and Md. Rostom Ali Helaly, District Education Officer of Natore.

The welcome address was delivered by Md. Selim Akter, Upazila Secondary Education Officer. Among others, speeches were delivered by Head Teachers Md. Ashraful Islam, Abdul Awal, Afroza Khatun, Rabiul Karim, Assistant Teacher Nazneen Khatun, and journalist Alhaj Md. Saifur Rahman.

During the meeting, participants were briefed on the formation, responsibilities, and operational scope of Sexual Harassment Prevention Committees in educational institutions. Emphasis was placed on making these committees more effective and proactive to ensure a safe, secure, and harassment-free learning environment for students.

Heads of 64 secondary-level educational institutions in the upazila, along with relevant government officials, participated in the discussion.
