
Rally, discussion held in Lawachara on World Environment Day

A rally and discussion was held under the theme "No more plastic pollution, now is the time to stop it" organized by the Kamalganj Lawachara National Park Co-Management Committee of Moulvibazar.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, a rally started from the main gate of Lawachara National Park at 12 noon on Sunday and ended in front of the office of the National Park Co-Management Committee. Later, under the leadership of Jamil Mohammad Khan, Assistant Conservator of Forests of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department and chaired by Amina Begum, President of Lawachara National Park Co-Management Committee, Kamalganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Zafar Md. Mahfuzul Kabir, Tourist Police Srimangal Zone Officer-in-Charge Md. Kamrul Islam Chowdhury, Member Secretary of Kamalganj Press Club Ahmeduzzaman Alam,
Range Officer of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department Kazi Nazmul Haque, Co-Chairperson of Greater Sylhet Adhibasi Forum Gdsong Pradhan Suchiang, General Secretary of People's Forum Shamsul Islam, Lawachara National Park Co-Management Committee Treasurer Janak Debbarma etc.
The speakers at the discussion said that in addition to banning plastic to protect the environment, they called for reducing plastic production. The speakers said that we need to be more aware along with public awareness to protect the environment and nature. The use of plastic is a threat to the environment and public health, so it must be banned.
At this time, officers of various bits of the Forest Department, journalists, members of Kamalganj Police Station and Tourist Police, members of CMC and members of CPG were present. Later, a cleanliness drive was conducted in the Lawachhara National Park area.
