Protest held in Kalia demanding exemplary punishment for child rapist

A human chain protest was organized in Kalia upazila of Narail on Monday demanding justice for four-and-a-half-year-old Jannatul Mawa (Hurna), who was brutally raped. The event took place at the Kalia bus stand and was jointly organized by the Kalia Thana unit of Islami Andolon Bangladesh and the general public.Speakers at the protest expressed deep outrage over the incident, calling it a heinous and inhumane act.
“In a society where even children are not safe, how can we expect the protection of our mothers and sisters?” they questioned. “To prevent such horrific crimes, the rule of law must be firmly established in the country,” they added.They demanded exemplary and strict punishment for the accused, Tariq Chowdhury, to ensure such crimes are not repeated in the future and that it sets a precedent in society.Among those present at the event were Mawlana Ali Husain, President, Islami Andolon Bangladesh, Kalia Thana Unit, Kazi Mohsin Ali, Secretary, Kalia Thana Unit, Hafez Mawlana Abul Hasan, President, Islami Youth Andolon, Kalia Thana Unit, Md. Habibur Rahman Biswas, Joint General Secretary, Islami Andolon, Kalia Thana Unit, Mawlana Rezwan Mahmud, President, Islami Youth Andolon, Kalia Municipality Unit, Qari Shamim Husain, General Secretary, Mujahid Committee, Kalia Thana Unit and Mufti Azgar Ali, President, Islami Andolon Bangladesh, Kalia Municipality Unit.The protest also saw participation from leaders of various political and social organizations, as well as concerned citizens from all walks of life.
