Prof Rakibul Haque joins as Director of HIT Project

Dr. Md. Rakibul Haque, Professor of Management Information Systems (MIS) Department of Dhaka University, has joined as the Director of the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HIT) Project being implemented by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
He took over from outgoing project director Professor Dr. Asaduzzaman at the HIT project office in the Copyright Office building in Agargaon on Monday.
Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Member Professor Dr. Machuma Habib, Secretary Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam, Director of Planning and Development Department Mohammad Makshudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Chief Implementation Officer of HIT Project AKM Mukhlesur Rahman, Deputy Project Director of HIT Project Professor Dr. Nazmin Afroz, Chief Program Coordinator Professor Selina Zaman, Senior Quality Assurance Specialist Professor Dr. ASM Abdul Hasib, Dean of the project's University Teachers Training Academy Professor Dr. Laila Noor Islam, and officials of UGC and HIT Project were present.
Welcoming the new project director, UGC Chairman Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed said, "The HIT project is one of the biggest projects in the country's higher education sector. If it is implemented properly, it will be possible to bring about positive changes in higher education."
The UGC Chairman said that although the project work started late due to various reasons, initiatives have been taken to complete it meaningfully within the stipulated time.
Prof Dr. Md. Rakibul Haque has served as the Chairman of the MIS Department of Dhaka University and the Provost of Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall. He has also been included in the list of top 2 percent researchers in the world from Bangladesh.
On October 19, an office order of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education ordered Professor Dr. Md. Rakibul Haque to perform this duty on secondment until a full-time project director is appointed. In the same order, Professor Dr. Asaduzzaman was relieved of his duty.
