Prof Kirit Kumar Dutta has been appointed as acting chairman of Mymensingh Education Board who was the founding secretary of the autonomous organisation.

He replaces incumbent chairman Prof Gazi Hasan Kamal who retired from service on Monday, said a press release.

Prof Kirit Kumar Dutta was born on 26 September 1965.

He passed SSC examination with first division from Pilot High School, Setabganj in 1981 and HSC from Dinajpur Government College in 1983.

Dutta secured first-class in Masters of Science degree in Botany from Ananda Mohan College and in 1987. He also obtained masters of education degree in 1992 from Government Teachers Training College, Mymensingh.

The academician shows excellence in field of literature and cultural activities since school days. He won district and national level awards for science projects.

Prof Dutta began his career 14th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service. He joined Joypurhat Government College as a lecturer in 1993 and served Zaheda Safir Mohila College Jamalpur and Government Teachers Training College, Mymensingh later.

The noted educationist is involved in different local and international organisation. Prof Dutta is vice president of Bangladesh Scouts in Mymensingh region and president of blood donation organisation, Bindu.

Prof Dutta attended an international course on science education at Griffith University, Australia. He is a certified master trainer of the Aspire to Information (A2i) project and life skills based disaster management, information and communication technology and curriculum.

For a long time, Prof Dutta served as tutor and coordinator of B.Ed and M.Ed courses of Bangladesh Open University. He was promoted to the rank of professor in 2017.

His wife Anjana Banik is a senior teacher at Mukul Niketan High School, Mymensingh. Prof Dutta’s son Arko Somujjal Dutta worked in a multinational firm in Canada after graduation in from the University of Manitoba in Computer Science.
