Prof Abu Taher appointed as CU VC

Professor Dr Md Abu Taher of Management Department of Chittagong University (CU) and Member of University Grants Commission (UGC) was appointed as vice chancellor (VC) of the university on Tuesday.
Professor Taher has been appointed on the post of VC on a temporary basis following the approval of President and the university Chancellor, said a notification from the Ministry of Education undersigned by Senior Assistant Secretary Shatarupa Talukdar.
Sources said Prof Abu Taher is also working as a Director of Board of Directors at Jibon Bima Corporation.
Before joining UGC, he had been serving in different positions including the Chairperson at CU Management department, Dean of CU Business Administration faculty, Treasurer of Bangladesh Open University, Pro-Vice Chancellor at Southeast University, and Chairman of Jibon Bima Corporation.
Mentionable, Prof Taher was born in Chattogram in 1962.
He received higher education in Management at CU, Inha University in South Korea and Texas A & M University in USA.
He became first class first in both the honors and masters examinations in 1982 and 1983, respectively, in Management.
