Probe body visits site of clash at RU, report expected Sunday

A three-member investigation committee formed over the clash, chase and counter-chase, and vandalism between students of the Management Studies and Chemistry departments at Rajshahi University (RU) following an altercation over a chair has visited the scene. The committee said it would submit its investigation report to the university administration by next Sunday.
On Thursday, members of the investigation committee visited the relevant departments of the university. During the visit, they inspected doors, windows and other structures damaged in the clash and collected various evidence from the scene.
Prof Saiful Islam, former dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and chairman of the investigation committee, said, “We have visited the scene and conducted an on-the-spot inspection. From our preliminary findings, we have learned that an argument broke out between students of the two departments over sitting on a chair, which later escalated into a clash.
Earlier on Wednesday, RU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Admin ) Prof Abdul Alim confirmed the formation of the three-member investigation committee. Professor Saiful Islam is serving as its chairman, while the other members are Prof Ariful Islam, chairman of the Department of Philosophy, and Professor Sahal Uddin, chairman of the Department of Law and Land Administration.
