 State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam, MP, stated that unprecedented politicization over the past 20 years has severely damaged Bangladesh's cultural sector. 

He noted that trapped in political chains, the country's culture failed to flourish with its unique identity and spontaneity.

The State Minister made these remarks while responding to reporters' queries after attending a cultural program titled 'Nadimattrik' (Riverine) as the chief guest at the Chandpur District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Saturday afternoon. 

The festive event was jointly organized by the Chandpur District Administration and the District Shilpakala Academy.

Highlighting the poor state of the country's cultural infrastructure, the State Minister added that most districts currently lack even the minimum environment required to conduct quality cultural activities, and no effective programs were undertaken in the past. 

Regarding future government plans, Khaiyam mentioned that the Ministry of Cultural Affairs is working tirelessly to build a modern and up-to-date cultural environment, having already adopted comprehensive and multifaceted action plans. 

Chaired by Chandpur District Commissioner and District Magistrate Ahmed Ziaur Rahman, the event was attended by Chandpur-3 constituency lawmaker and District BNP President Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik as the special guest.

Chandpur Zila Parishad Administrator Advocate Solim Ullah Selim, Additional District Commissioner and Chandpur Pourashava Administrator Md. Ershad Uddin, and District BNP Vice President Md. Khalil Gazi were also present, alongside senior officials of the local administration and top leaders of various social and cultural organizations.
