Police stand by flood victims in M'bazar with relief, medical camp

The Sylhet Range Police and Moulvibazar District Police have extended humanitarian assistance to vulnerable flood-affected families in Moulvibazar district by distributing relief packages and organizing a specialized free medical camp.
The humanitarian drive was held on Tuesday afternoon at the embankment area of Madhupur village, situated along the banks of the Manu River in Tengra Union under Rajnagar Upazila. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Sylhet Range, Dr. Md. Jillur Rahman, inspected the relief distribution and visited the medical camp as the chief guest. During the drive, essential food items including rice, lentils, cooking oil, onions, salt, potatoes, flattened rice (chira), puffed rice (muri), and biscuits were distributed among the families hit hard by the flash floods.
Simultaneously, a special medical camp was operated under the supervision of physicians from the Moulvibazar Police Lines Hospital to provide healthcare services to flood victims. The medical team provided free check-ups, prescriptions, essential medicines, oral rehydration saline, and water purification tablets to prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases in the inundated areas.
Speaking at the event, Sylhet Range DIG Dr. Md. Jillur Rahman stated that the Bangladesh Police is committed to ensuring public safety while actively participating in humanitarian efforts during national disasters. He noted that the sudden floods have caused immense distress to the local population, and standing beside them is a core humanitarian duty of the police force. He expressed hope that this modest initiative by the range police, alongside ongoing government efforts, would help ease the suffering of the local community.
The event was attended by Sylhet Range Additional DIG Mohammad Anwarul Haque, Police Superintendent Muhammad Sharafat Ullah, Police Superintendent Aminul Islam, Moulvibazar District Police Superintendent Md. Monirul Islam, Additional Police Superintendent (Admin and Finance) Asif Mohiuddin, Additional Police Superintendent (Crime and Ops) Novel Chakma, and Additional Police Superintendent (Sadar Circle) Abul Khair, alongside other senior district police officials, local public representatives, and community leaders.
Local residents expressed their deep gratitude to the Sylhet Range and Moulvibazar District Police for providing timely medical care and food assistance during this crisis.
