
Police lathi charge on students in Barguna quota movement

When the anti-quota protesting students blocked the road and held a protest and rally in Barguna, several protesting students and a policeman were injured in the police lathi charge attack.
On Tuesday at around three o'clock in the afternoon, a protest procession of the Quota movement came out from the front of the Barguna Public Library and came to the Barguna Press Club premises through different roads of the city and held a protest rally.
Students and eyewitnesses said that as part of the anti-quota movement, the students took out a protest march from the public library and gathered at the city's press club premises. At that time, the police baton-charged the protesting students. When the agitating students dispersed, several agitating students were injured in the lathi charge. Barguna city has been in a state of chaos since this incident.
Barguna Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Ah Halim said that when the students blocked the road, the police went and cleared the road. Additional police force has been deployed in the city to maintain peace and order in Barguna. No students were injured. Everything is normal now. No one has been arrested in this incident.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Shamim Mia said, we came to the protest rally of the quota movement and spoke to the students. Now the environment is normal. However, we are vocal that the environment and situation in the city should not be disturbed in any way.
