Women should be encouraged to emerge in agriculture: PAJEP Chairman Jiruna Tripura

A sample crop harvesting program was held in Khagrachhari under the Oil Crop Production Increase Project on Tuesday.
The program was organized in the Mahalachhara area of Sadar Union at the initiative of the Khagrachhari Upazila Agricultural Extension Department.
The crop harvesting program was inaugurated as the chief guest by Jiruna Tripura, Chairman of Khagrachhari Hill District Council.
At the time, the chief guest said that along with men in the hilly areas, women are also very hardworking. They should be encouraged to participate in agriculture. Such programs will play an important role in making the agricultural sector more dynamic. He assured that he would always stand by the farmers.
The program was presided over by Upazila Agriculture Officer Mukta Chakma and was attended by Deputy Director of the District Agricultural Extension Department Md. Bashirul Alam, other officials of the Upazila Agriculture Office and local farmers as special guests.
At the program, Deputy Director Md. Bashirul Alam informed about the current status and potential of rice cultivation in the district and said that the climate and soil of the hilly region are very suitable for cultivating oilseed crops.
At the end of the program, field-level information was collected through crop harvesting, which will play an important role in future agricultural planning.
