For the past two days, land deed registration activities at the Kishoreganj Sadar Sub-Registry Office have remained suspended, resulting in significant revenue loss for the government and immense public suffering for both land sellers and buyers.

According to related sources, due to the absence of a regular sub-registrar at the Kishoreganj Sadar Sub-Registry Office, Sadia Nawrin, the sub-registrar of Nikli upazila, was performing additional duties temporarily. On April 27, during her time at the Sadar Sub-Registry Office, an argument occurred between her and deed writer Furkan Uddin Khan Manik regarding registry-related matters. Eventually, leaders of the Sadar Deed Writers' Association intervened and resolved the issue, and deed registration activities continued as usual that day.

However, on the following day, April 28, the same sub-registrar returned to the office and reportedly informed all deed writers verbally that no deed registration would be conducted unless action was taken against Furkan Uddin Khan Manik.

On  Wednesday (April 29), Mohammad Nazmul Islam, the sub-registrar of Hossainpur upazila, came to perform temporary duties at the office. He also informed all deed writers in the same manner and did not register any deeds.

As a result, with no land deeds being registered over the past two days, the government has incurred considerable revenue loss. Simultaneously, buyers and sellers of land are facing severe inconvenience.

A government employee who traveled from Dhaka and requested anonymity stated, “I took a two-day leave, but the deed wasn’t done yesterday or today. This is a violation of government service protocols. Hundreds of people are suffering because of this—this is unacceptable.”

When contacted, Mohammad Ali, President of the Sadar Deed Writers’ Association, said, “We had already resolved the issue involving deed writer Furkan Uddin Khan Manik through discussion on that day. But for mysterious reasons, the sub-registrars have refrained from performing any deed registration for the last two days.”

When contacted, temporary sub-registrar Mohammad Nazmul Islam said, I have not refrained from deed registration; rather, the deed writers have not submitted any deeds to the court for processing.
