The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intensified patrols and increased intelligence activities along the 272-kilometer water and land border area of the border district of Satkhira amid the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan, alleviating public anxiety and apprehension.

On Thursday (May 8), the BGB's patrolling and intelligence activities were noticeable on the ground. Satkhira district has 272 kilometers of border roads, including 36 kilometers of land border. Satkhira Battalion (33 BGB), Shyamnagar's Nildumur Battalion (17 BGB) and a company of Riverine BGB are vigilant guards to protect these land and water borders. Along with the sharp surveillance on the borders under the jurisdiction of these two battalions and companies in the district, BGB patrols have been strengthened. At the same time, the people living on the border were also seen to be vigilant.

Satkhira Battalion (33 BGB) Commander Lt. Captain Md. Ashraful Haque said, "Border security has been strengthened due to the India-Pakistan conflict. The overall situation is being monitored by being vigilant and alert in the responsible areas of the border. A warning has been issued to prevent illegal infiltration through the border. In addition, manpower has been increased at the border for greater patrolling activities, and intelligence activities have also been increased to assess the border situation."

Abu Md. Mustafa Kamal, UP Chairman of the border union of Baikari in Satkhira Sadar Upazila, said that the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan is not desirable for anyone. However, the situation is normal on the Satkhira border. If the BSF shows any activity on the border, then the people of this country are ready to resist it along with the BGB.

Satkhira Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mostaq Ahmed said that Satkhira is a border district in the southwestern part of the country. Emphasis has been placed on the communication system at the border of this district to strengthen security measures.##
