Old woman Jahanara found after 25 years of disappearance

An old woman named Jahanara Begum (65), who went missing after 25 years, has been found by her relatives through social media Facebook.

Her younger daughter Hasi Akhter and sister-in-law Mostafa Mirza took him from Zangalia Bazar area of Pakundia Upazila in Kishoreganj on Friday afternoon

Earlier in 1999, she went missing from the Dhaka's Sadarghat launch terminal.
Jahanara Begum is the wife of Abdul Latif Faraiji of Ghatbaria village of Barguna Sadar, and mother of 5 children.

After a long time, the little girl Hasi Begum burst into tears after seeing her mother. She said, finding my mother is like finding my world. Mother passed away leaving us small. Now we are married. I thought I would never see my mother's face again.

She expressed his gratitude to everyone for finding him after so many years. Jahanara Begum's sister-in-law Mostafa Mirza said, 25 years ago, Jahanara Begum left Barguna for her relative's house in Dhaka with her 3-year-old son Chaydul (current age 28). He got off the launch at Sadarghat early in the morning and went to the toilet leaving his little son. She came out of there and did not find his son. She has not been found since. The family gave up after looking for relatives everywhere, including their homes. Her family also found his son Chhaydul, who went missing 10 years ago.

For the past 18 -20 days, Jahanara Begum was seen roaming in Jangalia Bazaar of Pakundia Upazila of Kishoreganj. In between, She was taken to the house of Ashraful Alam Ripon, President of Jangalia Bazar Committee, and asked to know her identity. Due to mental breakdown, she was saying the name and address of the family incoherently. Only the words 'Barguna and Ghatbaria' were understood. Posts are given on social media with those words. After that his relatives contacted from Barguna.

Later, Jahanara Begum was handed over to his family on Friday night.

Ashraful Alam Ripon, President of Jangaliya Bazar Committee, told The Country Today that this woman has been staying in front of my shop for 18-20 days. She has been eating at my residence for 5 to 6 days. We are happy that Jahanara Begum has found her family after so many years.

When Jahanara Begum was handed over to her family members, Jangalia Union panel chairman Omar Farooq, former chairman Taufiqul Islam, school teacher Shafiqul Islam, retired army surjent Abul Kalam and other dignitaries of the area were present.
