9 drum trucks seized for cutting soil from illegal land in Kapasia, 3 people fined

Upazila administration seized nine drum trucks for the crime of illegally cutting soil from agricultural land-hills and supplying it to brick kilns in a late night raid in Kapasia upazila in Gazipur.
On Sunday late at night, a group of police under the leadership of Kapasia police station officer Md. Kamal Hossain conducted the operation in Rayed Union area of the upazila. At this time 3 drivers of 9 drum trucks with soil were arrested. Sensing the presence of the administration, the other truck drivers and mud traders fled.
On Monday (November 18) afternoon, the Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Executive Magistrate Md. Nurul Amin issued a fine of Tk 100,000 in three cases in accordance with the provisions of the Soil Cutting Management Act 2010 and the Environmental Protection Act 1995 through the mobile court. The convicts are , Nazmul Hasan, Parvez Mia, Rakib Hossain.
Executive Magistrate Nurul Amin said, 9 drum trucks were seized with the help of local people while cutting soil from farmlands, ponds, hills and supplying it to various brick kilns. Local public representatives, Thana police and Ansar members cooperated in the operation.
