As a result, the people living in this area are suffering from various diseases.
According to local sources, the Roads and Townships Department constructed a new bypass road at the Titas intersection area adjacent to the Tarakandi Jamuna Fertilizer Factory on the Sarishabari-Bhuapur main road. Since then, there is no system to drain the water inside the Jamuna Fertilizer Factory commanding area, the water from the outside drains and the rainwater, so the water accumulates knee-deep between the two roads. As a result, this polluted and toxic water is entering the surrounding houses every day. Due to this, the locals are suffering from various diseases. Many have built dams on the new road to save their houses from the water. As a result, the water is not able to drain anywhere, which is why the water level in the houses is increasing every day.
Businessmen from Titas More area, Moynal, Rozina, Shamim said, "Water has been accumulating here for several months. Many people's houses are knee-deep in this water. We have not been able to do business. Water is rising in shops and houses. So we are forced to try to stop the water by covering the road with soil. No one is watching our plight."
Liton Mia and Shipon Melatari, whose houses were flooded, expressed their anger and said, "For several months, there has been no drainage system for the water from the Jamuna fertilizer factory and rainwater, so our house is knee-deep in water. We have to walk in toxic and polluted water every day. This is causing various types of itching and sores. Especially children and the elderly are having trouble moving around. We demand that necessary measures be taken to drain this water."
In this regard, GM (Admin) of Jamuna Fertilizer Factory Md. Delwar Hossain said, we have already learned about the matter. We will arrange to drain the water accumulated in Jamuna by installing a pea to drain it with our drain.
Moreover, the people of the area are not allowing the water to flow into the beel or the surrounding open areas. They have blocked the water by building dams on the road. As a result, the water is not able to flow anywhere. However, we will take necessary measures regarding water drainage.
