A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the Board Room of Barendra University on July 16, 2026 at 2:30 PM, in a joint initiative between the Faculty of Science and Technology of Barendra University and the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of North Sumatra, Indonesia.

This MoU was signed with the aim of further expanding academic activities in education, research, innovation, teacher and student exchange, and mutual interests of both institutions.

The event was attended by Barendra University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Khademul Islam Molya, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Professor Dr. Md. Baitul Mokaddesur Rahman, Registrar Lt. Col. Mohammad Khaled Bin Yusuf (Retd.), University Proctor Dr. Md. Abdul Awal, Nutrition and Food Engineering (NFE) Program Coordinator Dr. Sultana Razia, and the chief guest of the event was Dr. Emelia Julianti Siregar, Associate Professor and Head, Entomological Society of Indonesia, University of Sumatra Utara.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Khademul Islam Mollah highlighted the importance of international cooperation in higher education, research and global engagement. Then, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Prof Dr. Md. Baitul Mokaddesur Rahman spoke. He expressed hope that this partnership between the two universities will open new horizons for joint research, academic exchange, capacity building and institutional development.

After the MoU signing ceremony, a seminar titled "Utilization of Local Specific Food to Tackle Stunting in Northern Sumatera, Indonesia" was held at the university auditorium at 3 pm. At the beginning of the seminar, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof Dr. Md. Baitul Mokaddesur Rahman delivered the welcome speech.
