 State Minister for Land and CHT Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, MP, stated that district-level modern information complexes will play a groundbreaking role in delivering technology, arts, culture, and government development messages to people in marginalized areas.

State Minister Barrister Mir Helal made the remarks as the chief guest while laying the foundation stone for the Rangamati Modern Information Complex on the Mujaddid-e-Alfeshani Academy premises in Rangamati Sadar on Thursday. 

The project is part of a nationwide initiative to construct modern information complexes across 26 districts.

Speaking at the ceremony, State Minister Barrister Mir Helal stated that the complex should not be viewed merely as a building, emphasizing its multi-dimensional goals of modernizing information services, cultural activities, film screenings, digital service delivery, and tech-driven public awareness campaigns. He noted that the 160-seat mini-cineplex being built within the complex will open new horizons for local entertainment and cultural development in the Hill Tracts.

Warning against cybercrime and misinformation, the State Minister highlighted that the misuse of social media, disinformation, propaganda, and artificial intelligence (AI) present major contemporary challenges. 

Underscoring the potential of youth in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Barrister Mir Helal noted that young people across Bangladesh are earning foreign currency through freelancing and information technology. 

Stressing balanced development across CHT, the State Minister asserted that the primary objective of the government, under the guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is to execute development plans tailored to the specific needs of remote and marginalized communities. 

Presided over by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Additional Secretary Md. Shah Alam, the ceremony featured Rangamati MP Dipen Dewan as the Guest of Honor. CHT Development Board Chairman Major General (Retd.) Anup Kumar Chakma, Department of Mass Communication DG  S M Abdur Rahman, Rangamati District Council Chairman Dipan Talukder, Superintendent of Police Abdur Rokib, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Imranul Bhuiyan were also present among senior officials and media representatives.
