Memorandum signed demanding eviction of illegal encroachments safe roads in Satkhira municipal area

The leaders of the Satkhira branch of Nirapat Sarak Chai (NISCHA) have submitted a memorandum to the Satkhira Municipality Administrator Sheikh Mainul Islam Main, demanding the removal of illegal encroachments on sidewalks and roadsides in the Satkhira Municipality area, opening the way for pedestrians, and ensuring safe roads on Monday afternoon.
At that time, Nischa Satkhira branch advisor District BNP member Sheikh Masum Billah Shahin, publisher of the weekly Mukta Swadhin Patrika Md. Abul Kalam, president SM Mahider Rahman, general secretary Mir Abu Bakar, assistant general secretary Shahjahan Ali Miton, Md. Masud Ali, office secretary Md. Kamal Uddin Sardar, cultural secretary Md. Atiquzzaman, social welfare secretary Md. Delwar Hossain, youth affairs secretary Md. Zakir Hossain Joni and leaders from various levels of the organization were present.
The memorandum states that important roads and sidewalks in populated areas of Satkhira city have been illegally occupied for a long time and businesses have been operating. In some places, shops, in others, goods, vans, and various types of establishments and business activities are creating great hardship for pedestrians. In many places, pedestrians are forced to move down to the main road due to businesses occupying government land next to the sidewalks and roads.
The memorandum demands that the illegal encroachments on the sidewalk and roadside from the Paka Pul intersection to the Kesht Moira intersection be identified and evicted, that the sidewalk and government land on both sides of the road from the Paurdighe intersection to the Upazila Parishad be vacated, and that the sidewalk from the Laboni intersection to the Paka Pole be vacated.
Demands have been made for the illegal occupation of businesses and trade on the west and south sides behind the police station to be evicted and the area made suitable for public use, for the illegal occupation of other roads and sidewalks in the city to be identified and vacated, for regular operations to be conducted against shops and goods occupying sidewalks, and for regular monitoring to prevent reoccupation after vacating.
NISCHA leaders said that freeing the sidewalks from encroachment is not just a matter of preserving beauty; it is directly related to the civil rights of pedestrians, public safety, and reducing road accidents. Therefore, they urged the municipal administration to take immediate and effective steps in the public interest.

Kamal Hossain and other leaders of the organization including Principal Morshedul Haque and member Md. Monirul Islam.
