20 sacks of govt fertilizer seized during smuggling in Joypurhat, dealer absconding

The local upazila administration has seized 20 sacks of government fertilizer in Joypurhat while it was being illegally smuggled to another district. The seized fertilizer was later sold to local farmers at the government-set price.
Based on a tip-off from the National Intelligence Service (NSI), UNO Mahmudul Hasan conducted a raid on Doani Bazar in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila on Saturday night.
Sensing the presence of the administration, the transporters left behind 15 sacks of urea and 5 sacks of potash fertilizer and fled. Later, with the help of the administration present, the seized fertilizers were immediately sold to local farmers for a total of Tk 25,250.
According to local administration and area sources, Shahin Kadir, owner of 'Ms. Shahin Traders', a sub-dealer of Kuthibari Bridge Bazaar in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila, was illegally smuggling government-allocated fertilizers to Dhamairhat in neighboring Naogaon district, hoping for more profit.
Regarding the operation, Joypurhat Sadar UNO Mahmudul Hasan said that legal action has been taken against the fugitive dealer Shahin Qadir and unknown transporters involved in the illegal smuggling of government fertilizer.
