Young woman's hanging body recovered at Betagi

Police have recovered the hanging body of a teenager named Sadia Akhtar (17) from her home in Betagi, Barguna.
The incident took place at around 1 am on Sunday in Jhopkhali village of Ward No. 6 of Sadar Union of the upazila. The deceased Sadia is the eldest daughter of the deceased Pannu Pyadar of the village and was working as a receptionist at the 'Faraji Diagnostic Center' in Betagi Municipality.
According to family sources, Sadia returned home from work at 11 pm on Sunday and told her mother that she was not feeling well. When she asked to go outside for a while, her mother took her outside. After wandering around for a while, Sadia returned home and went to sleep in a room with her younger brother. At around 1 am, the younger brother saw his elder sister Sadia hanging from the ceiling of the house and screamed. Hearing the screams, the people in the house rushed to rescue Sadia, but she died by then. However, her family or colleagues could not immediately confirm the reason for her suicide.
Upon receiving the information, Betagi Police Station reached the spot on Monday morning (September 21), recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Barguna General Hospital for autopsy.
Betagi Police Station OC Md. Harun-or-Rashid said that the police have recovered the body from the spot and sent it for autopsy. The real cause of death will be known once the autopsy report is received. Preparations are underway to file an accidental death (UD) case at the police station in this incident.
