Meeting to exchange views on protecting natural balance, biodiversity in Khagrachari

A meeting to formulate an action plan to protect natural balance and biodiversity was held in Khagrachari.
The meeting was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Monday.
The meeting was chaired by Khagrachari Deputy Commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandaker, and was addressed by Superintendent of Police Md. Arefin Jewel, Additional Deputy Commissioner Hasan Maruf, Divisional Forest Officer Md. Farid Miah, Joint Secretary of Khagrachari Press Club Samir Mallick and representatives of various departments.
The speakers said that the great sacrifice of destroying mountains is being carried out in the dark of night in various upazilas including the district headquarters, Matiranga, Dighinala, Ramgarh Mahalachhari, Lakhichhari, etc., without the administration's knowledge. The next generation is heading towards disaster day by day due to this cruelty of the mountaineers.
In order to save the future generation, it was demanded that regular cases be filed along with the mobile court campaign to stop the cutting of mountains.
The speakers at the meeting also said that in this dry season, besides stopping the cutting of mountains, various species of forest birds including Maya deer and Dhanesh are becoming extinct due to the destruction of green forest land and free hunting.
At this time, all administration officials, environmentalists, media workers and other conscious people were present.
