Case filed in police abduction of AL leadef in Pakundia

Awami League (AL) leader, also UP Chairman Nuruzzaman Babu, an accused in the attack case during the anti-discrimination student movement, was snatched away by the police in Pakundia of Kishoreganj.
In this incident, Pakundia Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sujayet Hossain filed a case with Pakundia Police Station on Sunday night, naming 21 people as the plaintiff and 50 unidentified people as accused.
OC of Pakundia police station, Shakhawat Hossain confirmed the matter to the Country Today.
Earlier, the incident of kidnapping of the accused took place in Bahadia village of Egarsindur union of the upazila on Sunday evening.
The accused, Nuruzzaman Babu, is the current chairman of the Egarsindur Union Parishad (UP) in Pakundia. He was elected as the UP chairman with the boat symbol in the last Union Parishad (UP) election.
The locals and police sources, a police team led by Sub-inspector ( SI) Sujayet Hossain conducted a raid in Bahadia village of the upazila to arrest UP chairman Nuruzzaman Babu. Nuruzzaman was arrested in the raid. After the arrest, while being brought to the police station, Awami League members attacked the police due to his screams. At one stage, they snatched Nuruzzaman Babu from the police and left. The police conducted a raid to arrest Nuruzzaman Babu and those involved in the incident. However, the police have not been able to arrest anyone in the raid so far.
OC in Pakundia.Shakhawat Hossain said, "A case has been filed naming 21 people and 40 to 50 unidentified people as accused in this incident. Police operations are ongoing to arrest the accused."
