Saraswati Puja celebrated in Shyamnagar

Saraswati Puja was celebrated in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira with various arrangements including decorations, pandals, and arches recently.

Saraswati Puja is a major religious festival for Hindus. Religious and cultural programs are organized at the individual and institutional levels around Saraswati Puja.

Saraswati Puja is usually held on the fifth day of the bright lunar month of Magh. This year, since the fifth day falls on a Sunday and a Monday, Saraswati Puja was held over two days.

According to Hindu scriptures, Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, the goddess of intelligence, and the goddess of music. For this reason, Saraswati Puja is performed in various educational institutions. In addition, Saraswati Puja is performed individually and in families. On this day, children are also given chalk to start their educational life. Students keep their textbooks next to the idol at the beginning of the puja.

Saraswati Puja was held in twelve unions of Shyamnagar upazila for two days. Puja was held with large-scale toran, pandal and decorations at Shyamnagar Government Mohsin Degree College, Shyamnagar Atarjan Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Banasree Shiksha Niketan, Nakipur Pilot Secondary Girls' School, Sundarban Secondary Girls' School, Munshiganj Degree College, Porakatla Dwipayan Secondary School, Arpangashia PN Secondary School, Dhankhali, Nawabenki and other places.

There was a festive atmosphere in the educational institutions due to the students. Devotees offered prayers with Anjali during the puja and then took prasad after the puja. Overall, the puja was organized in a festive manner as Panchami Tithi fell on both days.
