A joint operation team of Barisal RAB-8 and RAB-9 has arrested the main accused Md. Nazmul Hasan Imran (30) in the murder case of Syed Md. Sabur (43) in the old passenger camp area of Gilatoli Kheyaghat in Charmonai Union of Barishal Sadar Upazila. The arrested Nazmul is the son of Nesar Khan of Gilatola village of Charmonai Union.

He was arrested after conducting a raid inside the B-95 Britannia Hotel in the Amberkhana Point area under Kotwali Police Station of Sylhet at 12:30 pm on Tuesday.

Barishal RAB-8 Assistant Director (Operations) Amit Hasan confirmed the arrest.

According to a press release from the Barisal RAB-8 Media Cell, the arrested accused Md. Nazmul Hasan Imran and other accused, in collusion and due to previous enmity, brutally beat the victim Syed Md. Sabur (43) to death with country-made weapons, iron rods and sticks while he was staying at the old passenger shelter in Gilatoli Kheyaghat, Charmonai Union, between 9 pm and 10 pm on September 11, 2024, and left him on the spot.

Local people saw the victim's body lying on the spot and informed the family and police.

On September 28, Syed Md. Sabur's mother Rahima Khatun filed a murder case with the Kotwali Model Police Station of Barisal Metropolitan City, whose case is case no. 53.

When the incident came to the attention of RAB-8 Barishal, it increased its intelligence surveillance and started a shadow investigation to bring those involved in the murder under the law. After the murder, the accused fled and went into hiding.

With the help of information technology, RAB-9, along with CPSC Company, located the location of the accused and RAB-8 conducted a joint operation and arrested the main accused in the case from Sylhet. The arrested accused was handed over to the police at the Kotwali Police Station of Sylhet district.
