The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has inaugurated the bottom slab casting of a Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) box culvert under its Rural Road Maintenance Program to strengthen and modernize rural road communication in Dimla Upazila of Nilphamari district.

The inauguration took place on Monday on the Tunirhat Road–Mahasarak–Colonihat GC Road, where a 4.00m × 4.00m RCC box culvert is under construction. The work was officially inaugurated by Dimla UNO Imranuzzaman.

Among those present at the ceremony were Purba Chhatnai Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Latif Khan, Upazila Engineer Md. Mofizur Rahman, Assistant Engineer Bazlur Rahman, Work Assistant Firozul Alam, Work Assistant Meskatul Jannat, representatives of the contracting firm, and local dignitaries.
Speaking at the event,

UNO Imranuzzaman said that the government is giving special priority to the construction of rural roads, bridges, and culverts as part of its ongoing infrastructure development initiatives.

He instructed the concerned officials to ensure quality construction and complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.
According to LGED officials, once completed, the RCC box culvert will provide safer and smoother transportation on the Tunirhat–Mahasarak–Colonihat GC Road.

It is also expected to improve the transportation of agricultural products, facilitate access to education and healthcare services, and boost local trade and economic activities.

Local residents expressed hope that the project would be completed without delay, bringing an end to long-standing problems.
