Embedded Ansar personnel deployed at Jahangirnagar University demonstrated heightened vigilance and integrity in two separate incidents on Saturday, apprehending a suspect caught stealing campus closed-circuit camera cables and returning a misplaced mobile phone to its rightful owner.

During a routine motorcycle patrol near a female residential hall at 12:30 pm, Ansar PC Ashraful Islam and Ansar Member Md. Barkat Ullah observed a youth severing active CC camera cables. As the patrol team approached, the suspect attempted to flee but was intercepted following a brief pursuit.

Officers recovered cable-cutting tools and approximately 10 feet of severed security wiring from his possession. The arrested individual was identified as Sujon Chowkidar (22), a tenant residing in the Palli Bidyut area of Ashulia. Campus security authorities formally handed over the suspect to Ashulia Police Station via the University Proctor's Office for legal proceedings.

In a separate incident on the same afternoon, Amir Hamza (16), a student at Jahangirnagar University School and College, inadvertently left his mobile phone behind at the Central Field following cricket practice.

Ansar Member Shri Russel Chandra, stationed on duty at the adjacent Central Temple, discovered the device along the field perimeter. After securing the phone, he promptly notified university authorities to trace the owner. Upon returning to the field at approximately 3:00 pm to search for his property, Hamza was reunited with the phone after identity verification.

University officials praised the Ansar members for their prompt operational response and honesty, noting that such vigilance strengthens public trust and security across the campus environment.
