Member of Parliament for Natore-4 (Baraigram-Gurudaspur) Constituency, Alhaj Md. Abdul Aziz, has said that journalists are the conscience of society and play an indispensable role in bringing the true picture of society and the grievances and needs of ordinary people to the attention of the government.

“Through objective and responsible journalism, journalists should highlight the problems, prospects, development activities and public-interest issues of the area before the people,” he said.

He also emphasized that journalists’ awareness, judgment, constructive suggestions and professional insight are essential for addressing various social issues and maintaining law and order in the locality.

The MP made the remarks at an exchange meeting with the presidents and general secretaries of several local press clubs at the inspection room of the Baraigram Upazila Parishad at 3:00 pm on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Abdul Aziz assured the journalists that their reasonable demands and suggestions would be given due consideration. He also pledged necessary cooperation to help make their professional activities more effective and dynamic.

The meeting was chaired by Baraigram Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Laila Jannatul Ferdous. She said that effective coordination and mutual cooperation among the administration, public representatives and media professionals are essential to ensure local development and quality public services. She expressed hope that such cooperation would continue in the future.

Journalists from various print, electronic and online media outlets in the area attended the meeting. Among others, journalists Alhaj Saifur Rahman, Alhaj Ashraful Islam, Md. Ahidul Haque, Md. Zahidul Islam, Md. Suruj Ali, Mahmudul Hasan Memon, Md. Hazrat Ali, Mahbubur Rahman and Amar D'Costa spoke at the meeting.
