Boalkhali (Chattogram) Correspondent

A meeting was held on the occasion of the formation of Boalkhali Upazila Committee of Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association.

Journalist Manjur Alam Master, former president of Boalkhali Press Club, presided over the meeting held at Gomadandi Pilot Model High School auditorium in upazila headquarters on Friday at 3 pm.

Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association Secretary General Md. Mozammel Haque Chowdhury was the chief guest. Boalkhali Sangbad Editor Syed Md Nazrul Islam was the special guest in this meeting.

Head of Boalkhali Sammilita Buddhist Parishad, entrepreneur journalist Adhir Barua, General Secretary of Boalkhali Press Club Yachin Chowdhury, Anti-discrimination Student Movement, Chattogram South District Cordinator Mohammad Shakeel, Chattogram Metropolitan Convenor Engineer Jasim Uddin of Jatri Kalyan Samiti, metropolitan leader Md. Manchur Alam, prominent businessman Abul Kalam, General Secretary of Boalkhali Combined Buddhist Parishad Paltu Kanti Barua were present.

Mozammel Haque Chowdhury said that everyone should be united against the establishment of passenger rights and fare anarchy, besides, a strong pressure group should be formed for the construction of Kalurghat Bridge to alleviate the sufferings of commuters in Boalkhali.

Organizer Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, Joint Publicity and Publication Secretary of Boalkhali Combined Buddhist Parishad Vishwadeep Barua, President of Bangladesh Puja Celebration Committee Boalkhali branch Shyamal Biswas, Director of Boni Hasan Eye Hospital Abu Taleb, Jamshedul Islam Ripon, Kazi Shahidul Islam and Ibrahim Talukdar spoke.

At the end of the meeting, journalist Adhir Barua was made the president and Md. Jamshedul Islam the general secretary and 51 member Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity, Boalkhali Upazila branch was formed.
