Chattogram City Correspondent
To maintain law and order during New Year's eve, the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has issued 13-point special directives.
CMP has assured comprehensive security measures across the city, including checkpoints, police deployment at churches, hotels, clubs, and recreational centers, intensified patrolling, and undercover intelligence surveillance.
The directives prohibit gatherings or celebrations on roads, flyovers, rooftops, and open spaces. Public events, fireworks, firecrackers, and the release of lanterns are also banned. Access to Patenga and Parki beaches will be restricted from 6 PM on December 31 to 10 AM the following day. Licensed bars and liquor shops will remain closed during this period.
Citizens are urged to refrain from consuming narcotics, ensure separate arrangements for women at events, and maintain respect for them. CMP has also prohibited loud horns and reckless driving in the Karnaphuli Tunnel and Elevated Expressway.
CMP has requested citizens to report any emergencies to their control room or the national emergency service at 999. It expressed confidence that with public cooperation, New Year's Eve celebrations can be safe and orderly.
