Jamaat leader protests Facebook propaganda whie building shops in Goalando

Moynul Haque Mridha, Rajbari

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abu Saeed Sohag held a press conference against the blockade and misinformation on Facebook while constructing  a shop on the land he purchased in Goalando, Rajbari.

He is the secretary of the Daulatdia Union Jamaat-e-Islami in the upazila.

The press conference was organized by Abu Said and his family at the Goalanda Journalists Forum office on Saturday  noon. His two elder cousins, Md. Abdul Alim and Osman Sheikh, were present at the conference.

In a written statement at the conference, Abu Said Sohag said, "His father purchased one and a half percent of the land of the shop house through a deed from the owner of BS 465, Bholai Matubbar Para, East Ujanchar, in the Ujanchar Notun Bridge area of Goalanda, through BS 465. Later, the registration of one and a half percent of the land was also completed. I have been residing there for the last 2 years and managing the system."

On October 8, when I went to demolish and expand my shop with workers, Abdul Quddus, a local who claimed the land as his heir, gave me a dam and went to the police station to file a false complaint against me. Later, the police came and stopped my work for that day. Later, when I showed the police all my valid documents, they allowed me to work again from the police station. Accordingly, on Friday, October 10, at around 10 am, I started working there again. But around 11 am, a group of police from the police station came and tried to forcefully take me, my father and the mechanics engaged in the work away in a police van. Later, when I showed all our valid documents to the police station's SI Billal Hossain, he asked us to stop the work and compromise between the two parties.

Meanwhile, at one point during the conversation with the police officer, someone made a pre-planned video and spread it on social media. It was said that the police were stopping Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abu Sayeed from forcibly occupying someone else's land. Later, the video was shared by several other IDs.

This has tarnished my family, political and social reputation. After the video was released, I have been receiving threats from various quarters. As a result, I and my family are suffering from insecurity.

I request the administration and law enforcement agencies to take immediate action on all these issues.

In this regard, Abdul Quddus, the heir claimant of the land, claimed to reporters that Ramzan Sheikh, the seller of one and a half percent of the land, is his own great uncle. He secretly sold the land at BS 465. There is a total of 23 percent of the land in that plot, of which I have 6 percent of the heir. Several cases are also ongoing in the court regarding the heir ownership and possession of the land.

On February 12 of this year, I filed a division case in the Rajbari court as a plaintiff. It is true that Alhaj Uddin Sheikh bought the land. However, where he will get that land will have to wait until the division case is settled.

In this regard, Goalanda Ghat Police Station SI Md. Billal Hossain said, I have seen the land purchase documents and the registration letter of Abu Said Sohag's father.
