International Elder Abuse Awareness Day rally, discussion meeting held in Pirojpur

A discussion meeting and rally were held in Pirojpur on the occasion of International Elder Abuse Awareness Day. With the support of HAD--BMZ and organized by RIC’s ISIGOP project, the theme of this year’s program was: “Be Courageous, Embrace Elderhood with Dignity.” on Thursday.
The discussion meeting took place in the conference room of the Sadar Upazila Parishad, where the chief guest was Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Mamunur Rashid. Special guests included District Youth Development Officer Abdul Hai Mallik, Upazila Social Welfare Officer Md. Matiur Rahman, researcher Tofazzal Hossain Monju, and Project Coordinator Khandaker Riaz Hossain.
The program was presided over by senior teacher Habibur Rahman and moderated by Pirojpur Project Coordinator Moinul Ahsan Munna. Among others who spoke were: The Daily Ittefaq staff reporter Muniruzzaman Nasim Ali, former General Manager of Krishi Bank Firoz Khan, General Secretary of Mahila Parishad Khaleda Akhter Hena, RIC’s Zonal Manager Md. Emdadul Haque, senior citizen leader Belayet Hossain, freedom fighter Solaiman (Bir Protik), and youth representative Farzana Mim.
Prior to the discussion, a rally was held which marched from the Upazila premises through the streets.
