
Indian citizen including AL leader's son arrested in Debhata, Yaba, weapons, liquor found in house

The joint forces have arrested Delwar Hossain Shaon, son of former chairman of Kulia Union and district Awami League leader Asadul Islam in Debhata Upazila of Satkhira, and Indian citizen Kamanur Gazi.
The arrested Delwar Hossain Shaon is the son of Asadul Haque, a Satkhira district Awami League leader and a resident of Kulia village in Debhata upazila. Kamanur Gazi is the son of Karim Gazi, a resident of Panitor village in Basirhat police station in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India.
Police said that on Monday (June 16), around 9 pm, the army and police, led by Lieutenant Kadir of Kaliganj Army Camp, conducted a raid on the house of Delwar Hossain Shaon in Kulia village. During the raid, 791 pieces of Yaba, a 16-inch long pipe gun, three knife, five liquor bottles, cash and various equipment for consuming Yaba were recovered from the house. They were handed over to Debhata Police Station that night.
Debhata Police Station OC Md. Golam Kibria said that in this incident, Sub-Inspector Shariful Islam filed a case with the police station on Tuesday (June 17) under Sections 36 (a) and 10 (a) of the Narcotics Act and Section 19 (f) of the Arms Act of 1978, mentioning the names of Shaon and Kamanur. They were sent to jail through the court on Tuesday (June 17, 2025) afternoon.
