
Resident of Brahmaputra Para in Gaibandha in panic due to erosion

More than a hundred families of some villages in the Brahmaputra river of Fulchhari upazila of Gaibandha are spending days in fear of the river erosion.
With the increase of water, the erosion has also started. Like last year, various establishments including settlements, schools, mosques have been threatened.
For more than two weeks, severe erosion has occurred in the area of about three kilometers from North Oriya to Katiarvita of Fulchhari Union. The most damaged of these were Katiyarvita of Oriya Union, North Oriya, Kalasona, Jodabari, Kabilpur village.
Locals said that last year, more than a hundred houses were dissolved in the river. This time the old panic has returned. Katiarvita Government Primary School, Char Kalasona Government Primary School, Oriya Community Government Primary School, South Kalipur Government Primary School and Daria Vita Government Primary School, more than a hundred settlements houses, a market, cemetery and mosque and mosque are at risk.
People from these rivers are subjected to breakdown again multiple times, and are again spending a quiet night for fear of losing their homes and houses. Local resident Saiful Islam said, “Last year, many of our homes went to the river. This time the breakdown has started again. I have informed various offices, including the Water Development Board, but no work has been started yet. ”
Executive Engineer of the Gaibandha Water Development Board. Hafizul Haque said, “To prevent the erosion, the work of throwing Geo bags is being started on an urgent basis. Besides, permanent resistance measures are being planned in the erosion prone areas.
