Human chain in Sundarganj demanding cancellation of illegal appointments at Islami Bank

A human chain has been formed in Sundarganj, Gaibandha, demanding the immediate dismissal of incompetent officials illegally appointed to Islami Bank by bank robber and mafia boss S Alam from 2017 to 2024.
The human chain was jointly organized by the Islami Bank Customer Forum and the Anti-Discrimination Job Seekers Council in front of the Islami Bank office on Upazila Parishad Road in the city on Monday morning.
Speakers at the human chain said that Islami Bank was once a symbol of trust and confidence in the country's banking sector. But in the past few years, the bank has fallen into deep crisis due to interference from influential circles and illegal appointments by the S Alam Group. As a result of inefficient and biased appointments, the image of the bank has been severely damaged and truly talented people are being deprived.
The speakers demanded the immediate abolition of illegal and exclusive recruitment in all banks of the country, including Islamic banks, and ensuring merit-based recruitment on the basis of equal opportunities across the country. At the same time, they called for establishing transparency and justice in the banking sector.
The speakers also said that if Islamic banks are to be re-established as a people's bank, free from political influence and group interests, corrupt individuals must be removed and qualified individuals must be given priority. Only then will people's trust in Islamic banks return and the stability of the banking sector be ensured.
Prominent businessman Nazrul Islam, a customer of Islami Bank, Shamim Khandaker, manager of Messrs. Nazrul Bricks, Shafiul Haque, manager of Hope Agro Limited, customers Badiuzzaman Mia, Ismail Hossain, Ranju Mia, job seekers Sohel Rana, Shahin Mia, Bayezid Islam and Sagar Mia, among others, spoke.
