The police recovered the hanging body of 12-year-old madrasa student Tawhid Hossain from the toilet of Markajun Noor International Madrasa in South Chartha area of Cumilla city on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as student of Tawheed Hifz department and his house is in Ramrai village of Chauddagram municipal area of Cumilla . He is the only son of Khorshed Alam.

According to local and police sources, a student of the madrasa found Tawheed's body hanging from the ventilator of the toilet. Later, the madrasa authorities informed the police and the police came and recovered the body. Local people and the family of the deceased claim that Tawheed was killed and his body was hanged.

They alleged that Tawheed's body had bruised marks on various places including the waist. Madrasa authorities claim that Tawheed committed suicide. According to them, Tawheed went to the washroom at 2 pm and after a long search, his body was found at 8 pm. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Comilla Kotwali Model Police Station Mohinul Islam said that the force was sent immediately after receiving the information and the body was recovered and brought to the police station. Details will be known after the autopsy.

A complaint has been lodged with the police station and legal action will be taken subject to investigation. Awareness of family and madrasah authorities is very important to prevent such tragic incidents. Regular counseling and monitoring is required to ensure the mental health and safety of students. Besides, the madrasa authorities should be more careful and alert towards the students so that such incidents do not happen again.
