GAU ranks 2nd in Bangladesh in Times Higher Education Ranking

Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) has jointly secured the second position among universities in Bangladesh in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027. Internationally, the university has been placed in the 1,001–1,200 band.
The UK-based higher education magazine Times Higher Education published the 2027 World University Rankings on its website on September 30 (Wednesday).
The ranking evaluates universities across five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. In the important teaching quality indicator, GAU has secured the second position among both public and private universities in Bangladesh.
A total of 2,297 universities from 118 countries and regions were assessed in this year's ranking.
In recent years, Gazipur Agricultural University has achieved consistent success in various international rankings. In the Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, the university ranked first among public universities in Bangladesh. In the same ranking, GAU ranked 82nd globally in SDG 1 (No Poverty), 66th in SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), and within the 101–200 range in SDG 4 (Quality Education).
The university has also achieved first-place positions among public and private universities in Bangladesh in various indicators of the THE World University Rankings 2025 and 2026.
Meanwhile, in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026, GAU ranked 23rd globally in the Financial Impact Driven Technology Transfer category, becoming the only public university from Bangladesh to achieve this position. In addition, the university ranked first among agricultural universities in Bangladesh in the QS World University Sustainability Rankings 2026.
Expressing satisfaction over the university's achievement in the rankings, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. JKM Mostafizur Rahman said, “GAU's consistent progress in international rankings is a recognition of the collective efforts of the entire university community. Securing second place among public and private universities in Bangladesh, particularly in teaching quality, is extremely significant for us.”
