FH Assoc Bangladesh observes World Breastfeeding Week in C'nawabganj

FH Association Bangladesh observed World Breastfeeding Week 2026 in Chapainawabganj with a week-long awareness campaign from August 1 to 7 at four Community Resilience Centers (CRCs) located in Gobratola, Jhilim, Atahar, and Shahjahanpur.
The chief guest at the program was Dr. A. K. Shahab Uddin, Civil Surgeon of Chapainawabganj. Special guests included Mosammat Shamsun Nahar, Senior Health Education Officer at the Civil Surgeon's Office, and Md. Golam Lutful Hasan, Chairman of Jhilim Union Parishad.
The campaign brought together local public representatives, teachers, healthcare workers, community leaders, volunteers, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, parents, and adolescent girls as future mothers.
A total of 850 participants attended the activities organized across the four Community Resilience Centers. Each center hosted a central awareness session with around 150 participants, while additional pocket programs were conducted to reach more people with messages on the importance of breastfeeding and maternal and child nutrition.
Speakers emphasized that initiating breastfeeding within the first hour after birth, providing exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and continuing breastfeeding alongside appropriate complementary foods until two years of age or beyond are essential for a child's healthy growth and development.
They also highlighted that breast milk is the ideal source of nutrition for infants, helping to strengthen immunity, prevent malnutrition, and promote healthy physical and cognitive development.
Representing FH Association Bangladesh were Mahajabin Jahan, Value Exchange Relationship Coordinator; Moshfikar Ali, Digital and Technology Support Coordinator; and Development Facilitators Sumon Ali, Ayesha Khatun, Ruplal Murmu, and Sheetal Sarkar, who played key roles in planning, coordinating, and implementing the campaign.
The week-long program featured awareness discussions, interactive sessions, and pocket campaigns to educate community members about the benefits of breastfeeding.
