Heroic Freedom Fighter Sirajul Islam, locally known as Siraj Member, passed away on Thursday, while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Faridpur at 8:00 AM.

Sirajul Islam was a resident of Ward No. 6 under No. 2 Char Madhabdia Union in Faridpur Sadar Upazila. His demise has cast a pall of gloom over his family, relatives, and local residents.

Prior to his first namaz-e-janaza held at his residence after Zuhr prayers on Thursday, he was accorded a guard of honour with full state honors by the district administration. Faridpur Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Shafiqul Islam was present to pay state tributes alongside freedom fighters Advocate Shamsul Haq Golam Master, Abdur Rahman Bepari, Shamsuddin Ahmed Ilaj Uddin, Idris Ali Sheikh, Rezaul Karim Molla, and Abdus Sattar Sikder.

Char Madhabdia Union Parishad Chairman Tuhinur Rahman Khokan Mondal, Gazirtek Union Parishad Chairman Yakub Ali, and the deceased's eldest son Shahidul Islam were also in attendance. During the proceedings, fellow freedom fighters recalled Sirajul Islam's contributions to the 1971 Liberation War and his public service, followed by a special munajat for the peace of his departed soul. Maulana Md. Rois Uddin led the first janaza.

A second namaz-e-janaza was conducted at Vishwa Zaker Manzil following Asr prayers on Thursday. He was laid to rest at his family graveyard in Char Madhabdia Union at around 10:00 PM on Thursday.

Local dignitaries and journalists, including Dainik Fatehabad Executive Editor Mahbub Hossain Piyal, expressed deep grief and condolences to the bereaved family following the freedom fighter's passing.
