60 tons of Hilsa caught in a trawler

About 60 tons of hilsa have been caught by a fishing trawler in the Bay of Bengal, Hatiyar, Noakhali.
When the chairman returned to the ghat with these fish on Thursday morning, they were sold at Saiful Fish Market in three stages until noon for about 2 million taka in an auction.
It is learned that Hatiyar fisherman Abdur Rahim Majhi went fishing in the Bay of Bengal with 18 fishermen. After staying at sea for six days, they returned to Chairman Ghat on Thursday morning with a huge quantity of hilsa. Later, the fish were auctioned at Saiful Fish Market and traders bought them through competition. There was joy and enthusiasm among the fishermen, marketers and traders as they caught such a huge quantity of hilsa at once.
Local fishermen said they were encouraged by the large number of hilsa caught at once. Those concerned hope that if such abundance of hilsa continues in the sea, it will not only increase the income of the fishermen but also have a positive impact on the local fish market.
Noakhali District Fisheries Officer Harun Or Rashid said that fishermen are getting fish as expected due to the good availability of hilsa in the sea. However, to increase the production and reproduction of hilsa, it is necessary to conserve jatka and refrain from fishing during the ban.
