DU Persian Language and Literature Depatt welcome, farewell reception held

The newcomer welcome and farewell reception ceremony of the Department of Persian Language and Literature, Dhaka University was held on Wednesday at the Student-Teacher Center Auditorium.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as the chief guest at the event.
The event was presided over by the Departmental Chairman Professor Dr. Md. Mumit Al Rashid, and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of Dhaka University Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Mansur Chavushi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, and Cultural Counselor of the Iran Cultural Center in Dhaka Syed Reza Mirmohammadi spoke as special guests. The convener of the event organizing committee, Professor Dr. KM Saiful Islam Khan, delivered the welcome speech. Associate Professor Md. Ahsanul Hadi conducted the event. Hridoy Roy and Zerin Afroz spoke on behalf of the new students and Mitu Akhter and Md. Khairuzzaman spoke on behalf of the outgoing students.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan extended his heartfelt congratulations to the new students and wished the outgoing students success in their future lives. He said that Persian language and literature are about 600 years old. The teachers and students of the Department of Persian Language and Literature, Dhaka University, have a unique role in researching this rich language and literature. He thanked the Iranian ambassador for his support in the practice of Persian language and literature and said that Bangladesh and Iran are long-standing friends. The people of the two countries have deep ties in various fields including history, tradition, social, cultural, political, and economic.
He emphasized on expanding joint cooperative education and research activities between Dhaka University and various universities and educational institutions of Iran to further strengthen this friendly relationship between the two countries.
The souvenir published on the occasion of the fresher's welcome and farewell reception was unveiled at the event. In addition, the students who received the highest CGPA in the MA class of the 2021-2022 academic year were honored. In the second phase, a delightful cultural program was presented with the participation of the students of the department.
