Students need to increase their network at national, international levels: DU VC

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan has called on students to increase their network at national and international levels to develop themselves as skilled human resources. In this regard, he emphasized on developing interpersonal relationships with teachers and making the best use of all the opportunities and potential of the university.
The Vice-Chancellor spoke as the chief guest at the introduction meeting of the 1st year students of the ‘Undergraduate Program’ of various departments under the Faculty of Business Studies, Faculty of Biology, Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Faculty of Engineering and Technology at the Student-Teacher Center Auditorium on Sunday.
The program was presided over by Professor Dr. Mehzabeen Haque, Director of the Student Guidance and Counseling Office, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha was present as the special guest. Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, Professor Dr. Mahmud Osman Imam, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain Khan, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Professor Dr. Upma Kabir, and Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed spoke at the event.
On behalf of the new students, Afifa Mushtari Upma of the Department of Management, Mehzabin Alam of the Department of Soil Water and Environment, Md. Nabiul Hasan Shuvo of the Department of Geography, and Ahmed Reza Tausif of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering spoke. Chairmen and student advisors of various departments were present.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan congratulated the new students and said that the students got the opportunity to get admission in this university through rigorous competitive examinations. To develop knowledge and wisdom, they should set their goals from the beginning of their university life and move forward. In addition to education and research, they should participate in sports and co-curricular activities and acquire various linguistic and organizational skills. He called on the students to get involved in social, cultural and voluntary clubs to acquire skills in various fields including organizational. He expressed the hope that the new Bangladesh will move forward with the help of a skilled young generation.
It is worth noting that the Office of Student Guidance and Counseling organizes this introduction program every year to introduce the various faculties, departments, institutes, research centers, residential halls and offices of the university to the new students and to inform them about various service activities and facilities.
