Dhaka Stock Exchange sees downtrend: DSEX drops by 51.08 points

Trading at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed on a downtrend on Sunday, with the benchmark DSEX index losing 51.08 points amid heavy selling pressure.

The DSEX index ended the day at 5,146.49 points, marking a 51.08-point drop from the previous trading session. The Shariah-based DSES index slipped by 2.12 points to settle at 1,149.43 points, while the DS30 blue-chip index declined by 19.14 points to close at 1,899.90 points.

The day's trading saw shares and mutual funds worth Tk 302 crore exchanged, a decrease of Tk 61.7 crore compared to Thursday’s turnover of Tk 363.7 crore. A total of 11.2 crore shares and units changed hands through 114,629 transactions, down from 13.01 crore shares and units traded via 130,506 transactions in the previous session.

Out of the 392 companies that participated in Sunday’s trading, 110 companies recorded price gains, 228 companies saw declines, and 54 remained unchanged.
