DU Inter-Hall Volleyball Competition begins

The Dhaka University Inter-Hall Volleyball Competition has begun on Tuesday at the Central Playground. Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) and Sports Board President Prof Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha inaugurated the competition as the chief guest.
Dhaka University Volleyball Committee President Prof Dr. Md. Belal Hossain presided over the function, and Acting Director of the Physical Education Center SM Zakaria delivered the welcome address. Among others, the Physical Education Center Advisor Prof Dr. SM Mostafa Al Mamun spoke at the function. The principals, residential teachers and students of various halls were present.
Thirteen halls of boys and 5 halls of girls are participating in the separate competition. In the round robin league system, each hall in the student group will get the opportunity to play 2 matches in the first phase. The quarter-finals will be held with the best 8 halls. The semi-finals will be held on January 27 with the winning teams and the final match on January 30. The champion and runner-up in the girls' group will be determined on the basis of the point table. In the girls' competition, each hall will also have the opportunity to play 2 matches. Each match will be settled in a rotation system and in 3 sets.
On the opening day, 2 matches were held for boys and 1 match for girls. In the first match for boys, Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall won by defeating Kabi Jasim Uddin Hall by 2-0 sets. In the second match, Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall won by defeating Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall by 2-0 sets. In the girls' match, Shamsun Nahar Hall won by defeating Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall by 2-0 set.
