DU celebrates ‘Japan Cultural Day’

‘Japan Cultural Day’ was celebrated on Monday, under the joint initiative of the Department of Japanese Language and Culture, Dhaka University and the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka.

On this occasion, cultural programs, exhibitions of traditional Japanese costumes, plants and calligraphy were organized at the Institute of Modern Languages. Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed inaugurated the day-long programs as the chief guest.

The program was presided over by the Acting Director of the Institute of Modern Languages Professor Mohammad Absar Kamal, and the First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan Mr. Komine Ken was the guest of honor and the President of Ikebana International Dhaka Chapter Ms. Kazuyo Hosomi Zoha was present as the special guest. The convener of the Cultural Day celebration committee, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ansarul Alam delivered the welcome address. Lecturer Anika Begum conducted the program.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed highlighted various aspects of Japan's rich culture and said that through such an event, we can give young students an idea about Japanese culture. He expressed the hope that through cultural exchange and cultural events between Japan and Bangladesh, the mutual relations between the people of the two countries will be further strengthened in the future.
