DU Botany Alumni Assoc reunion held

The ninth reunion of Dhaka University Botany Alumni Association was held on Friday at the Department of Botany.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as the chief guest at the event.
The event was presided over by Botany Alumni Association President Dr. Md. Athar Uddin, and Bangladesh Academy of Sciences Council Member Professor Dr. ZN Tahmida Begum spoke as the special guest. Alumni Association General Secretary Professor Dr. Md. Abul Basar delivered the welcome address. The vote of thanks was expressed by the Chairman of the Department of Botany, Professor Dr. Mihir Lal Saha.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan emphasized on building an effective network of alumni with the university and said that the alumni of the university can play a helpful role in improving the quality of life of new students. Many alumni are cooperating in various fields including infrastructural development of the university, providing scholarships to students. He urged the alumni to come forward for the development of education and research, including the formation of a special endowment fund to bring underprivileged students of the university under the scholarship scheme.
Distinguished botanist Professors Dr. Zia Uddin Ahmed and Mejbah Uddin Ali were honored at the event. In addition, Dr. Md. Athar Uddin Gold Medal was awarded to Md. Tanbir Hasan Shishir for achieving the highest GPA in the 2022 MS examination.
In the second part of the event, reminiscences and a pleasant cultural program were presented.
