Day-long Psychological Case Confcr held at DU

The first-ever ‘Psychological Case Conference’ was held at the RC Majumder Arts Auditorium on Friday jointly organized by the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, Dhaka University and the Bangladesh Educational and Counseling Psychology Society (BECPS).
Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed spoke as the chief guest at the event.
The event was presided over by the Chairman of the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh, while Hamida Akhtar Begum, Editor-in-Chief of Bangladesh Psychological Studies and former Professor of the Department, was the special guest and Professor Dr. Md. Enamul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, was the guest of honor. The welcome address was delivered by Prof Dr. Mehzabeen Haque. The program was conducted by Associate Professor Nafiza Ferdousi of the department. Teachers, psychologists and students of the department were present at the program.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed said that from birth to death, a person has to move forward by facing various challenges in every aspect of personal, family, social, professional and political life. There are different challenges at every stage of life. One has to acquire skills in dealing with various challenges and mental stress. He said that many students and parents are in mental trauma due to the anti-discrimination student movement and the July mass uprising. The Department of Educational Counseling and Clinical Psychology can play an effective role in protecting their mental health through proper counseling.
