In a post on social media Facebook, Youth and Sports Adviser to the Intrim Government Asif Mahmud announced the marriage of Sarjis Alam, currently the Coordinator of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement on online and offline social media and the main organizer of the National Citizen Committee. He wrote in the caption, 'Congratulations on entering a new life, Sarjis Bhai. May your married life be happy'.

On Friday (December 31) night, it was confirmed by talking to the family of Sarjis Alam's wife that Coordinator Sarjis Alam married the eldest daughter of Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Adv. Lutfar Rahman, the son of Barguna.

In the picture posted on Facebook by Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud, adviser Nahid Islam, Cordinator Hasnat Abdullah, adviser Mahfuz Alam, Asif Mahmud and Sarjis are seen. Sarjis is seen as the groom among all - wearing a white sherwani and a cap and turban. Although the name or picture of the bride has not been made public. However, it is also known that individuals from different quarters of Barguna district are posting from their Facebook IDs about the marriage of with the eldest daughter of Deputy Attorney General Adv. Lutfar Rahman. She is the eldest daughter and Moshammad Raita is a "Hafiza of holy Quran'.

It is learnt that Sarjis' father-in-law is a Deputy Attorney General Adv. Lutfar Rahman. He hailed from Lakurtala village of Gourichanna Union No. 2 of Barguna Sadar Upazila. Adv. Lutfur Rahaman who is working in the Dhaka High Court due to his profession, Lutfar Rahman lives with his wife, daughter and two sons in Shahjahanpur area of Basabo area of the capital.

Sarjis Alam's wife is the eldest of the two sons and one daughter. Since she is a Quran memorizer, she always wears a veil. Therefore, the daughter's family has expressed reluctance to reveal her name to the media.

Regarding the marriage, according to the family sources of Sarjis Alam's wife, their marriage ceremony was completed in a family manner at Rajindra Resort in Gazipur on Friday after Asr prayers. He is currently staying at the resort with his family to avoid the media's harassment.

It is worth noting that Sarjis Alam is getting praised for marrying a girl from Barguna district. Sarjis Alam was born on July 2, 1998 in Atwari upazila of Panchagarh district. His father is Akhtaruzzaman Saju and mother is Bakera Begum. Sarjis Alam is the elder of the two brothers. His younger brother is Shahadat Hossain Shakib.

Sarjis Alam completed his HSC from BAF Shaheen College, Dhaka and his Honours and Masters from the Department of Zoology, Dhaka University. He won the post of member from the Amar Ekushey Hall Sangsad panel in the DUCSU elections of Dhaka University.

Moreover, he has represented the students as a debater in debate competitions at various levels. Under the leadership of Sarjis Alam, his role in the July uprising of last year with millions of students was immense. And even now, Coordinator Sarjis Alam is leading the students in the country's reforms.
